South West Respite

Supporting Primary Carers

We understand that being a Primary Carer comes with a unique set of challenges.

First of all, you’re doing an amazing job — we fully recognise the stress and strain Primary Carers experience on a daily basis. With this in mind, respite services provide the necessary break you need (and deserve), and time to recoup from the caring role.

We provide this through the South West Rural Respite Program. The program works alongside the Regional Manager of Carealot, and sits in the heart of Busselton on Prince Street.

The details

Eligibility

Funded by the Commonwealth Home Support Program, the program supports Primary Carers who live within the 12 local council areas in the South West Region. Subsidised services are available to anyone over the age of 65 (age 50 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders) with a Primary Carer.

Support

Respite services can be provided on a planned and/or emergency basis, according to individual needs. For example, a regular visit every week, a 12-hour sleepover, or 24-hour live-in service. Available supports include:

  • Social support and companionship.
  • Personal care.
  • Transport to appointments.
  • Meal preparation.
  • Light housekeeping and cleaning.
