CHC30202 Certificate III in Home & Community Care

Course Overview

This qualification will provide you with the most up to date information available and the hands on skills to work in the Home Care Service setting. This is the newest Qualification available and takes the place of all previous Certificates in this area. There are brand new skills and upgraded versions of the skills from the older Training Package.

Who would this course suit?

This course would be perfect for those people who are interested in working as a:

  • Community Care Worker
  • Personal Care Worker
  • Personal Care Giver
  • Nursing Assistant

This course could also be used as a pathway to additional study at University

Course Pre-requisites

People who wish to take part in the course will need the following things:

  • A willingness to help other people
  • A desire to learn new skills
  • A genuine ability to get along well with people from all walks of life
  • Reasonably good reading and writing skills (at least to year 10 level)
  • A good attitude towards life in general
  • Be fit and healthy
  • A current (within the last six months) National Police Clearance, this is an industry requirement. You will need this Police clearance if you wish to take part in any industry placement during the course.

Carealot Training College is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) which works within the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF). As such, we will always recognise Qualifications and Certificates issued by other RTO’s

Assessment

All assessments are competency based. The types of assessment used may include – skills demonstrations, assignments, knowledge tests, on the job work, projects.

Skills Recognition

All clients can apply for Skills Recognition. Course credit s and exemptions can be granted for both formal prior learning (training and Qualifications) and for current competencies (experience and abilities that you have already)

Course Content

The course consists of 15 units: Ten of these are compulsory and five are electives. The course below is an example of what units are available

Compulsory:
CHCAC15A Provide care support which is responsive to the specific nature of dementia
CHCAC3C Orientation to aged care work
CHCCOM2B Communicate appropriately with clients and colleagues
CHCCS405A Work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers
CHCHC301A Work effectively in a home and community care environment
CHCHC302A Provide personal care
CHCINF8A Comply with information requirements of the aged care and community care sectors
CHCOHS302A Participate in safety procedures for direct care work
CHCCS401A Facilitate co-operative behaviour
And one of the following units:
CHCDIS1B Orientation to disability work OR
CHCDIS10B Provide care and support
Electives:
CHCAC17A Support the older person to maintain their independence
HLTFA1A Apply basic First Aid
CHCAC2C Provide personal care
HLTFS7A

Follow basic food safety practices

HLTMS5A Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain clean environment
