Carealot has been recognised as a leader in its field and Managing
Director, Barbara Macleod has received several awards for her achievements.

Westpac Business Owner Award (14th July 1998)
Home Health Wins Westpac 1998 Business Owner Award
Ms Barbara Macleod, Carealot Home Health Services, has
been awarded the l998 Westpac/Challenge Bank Business Owner
Award at the National Telstra Business Women's Awards in Adelaide
today.
Presenting the Award, Westpac's Head of Small Business, Sally Treeby
said: "Women, like Barbara, are choosing to establish their
own businesses in order to have freedom, flexibility and control
over their lives. For many women the drive for this flexibility
revolves around family commitments as women continue to hold the
primary family role."
Ms Macleod started Carealot Home Health Services in 1996 following
her frustration at the limitations of the current health care system.
Carealot offers a full range of home care services from midwifery
and nursing through to support services like shopping, cleaning
and companionship.
Over 600 families in the Perth Metropolitan area and isolated regions
of WA use Carealot Home Health Services, which has grown since 1996
into an organisation employing over 140 full-time and part-time
individuals, most of whom are women.
Business women's Hall of Fame Induction (3rd February, 2000)
In a special announcement 50 Australian women have been inducted into the 2000 Businesswomen's Hall of Fame including 3 women from Western Australia.
Barbara Macleod, 1998 Telstra Business owner of the Year, now adds this significant acknowledgment to her achievements and long established business reputation. Barbara said, 'Being one of only three women from WA nominated and inducted, is an honour'. Since 1998, the Businesswomen's Hall of Fame, an initiative of the Australian Businesswomen's Network, has inducted 100 businesswomen recognising their achievements in business, politics and the community.
The Australian Businesswomen's Network is an important tool for businesswomen. Providing support, networking and inspirational role models, ABN serves to achieve the business goals of its members. Role models, such as Barbara Macleod, allow members to use the knowledge and experience they have gained to support women starting their own businesses.
Barbara Macleod, Managing Director of Carealot Home Health Services has been recognised for her ongoing commitment and success to the area of home health care. With only 3 women recognised in Western Australia, Barbara's success has made her an outstanding role model for Western Australian women determined to succeed in business.
Starting the company from a home office, Barbara recognised the lack of quality, professional home health care available in the community. Carealot Home Health Services has taken advantage of the current trend towards home health care and changes in government attitudes by providing a personalised home health care service. Political and social changes have allowed Carealot to grow as the market has and adjust the services it provides by listening to the community.
Carealot has operated for over 5 years and now employs around 200 people. Providing a range of services including Home Health Care, Specialty Services, Dementia Care and Professional Nursing Services. Carealot are a valued organisation in the community.

National Respite for Carers Program Grant 1st June, 2001)
$1.04M Grant for the much needed Respite Services in the South West Region
Brownyn Bishop, the Minister for Aged Care has recently approved a grant of $1,040,000 to Carealot Home Health Services Pty Ltd under the National Respite for Carers Program
Carealot Home Health Services is a private provider of home health care and submitted an innovative proposal that has wide coverage in the South West Region of WA. The period of the grant is 4 years commencing in July 2000 and ending on 30 April 2004.
The project titled South West Rural Respite Services will provide a cost effective, innovative and flexible in home respite to support carers in 12 shires over an area of 23,700 square kilometers that covers Augusta, Margaret River, Busselton-Donnybrook, Balingup, Boyup Brook, Capel, Harvey, Bridgetown-Greenbushes, Collie, Manjimup, Dardanup and Nannup.
The project will target carers of individuals with dementia, cognitive and/or challenging behaviours. It will be based in the company's Busselton office and will include the employment and training of one full-time coordinator and 24 multi-skilled care workers living throughout the 12 shires.
